Emagic EXSP24 / EVP73 Updates
A while after Apple took over Emagic, they closed down the original website and integrated the products into their own portfolio. Since I recently had to reinstall Logic 6, I had to refer to the Emagic legacy software download site Apple set up to download the software updates. Apple, however, forgot to include two rather important updates on this site that are only available on Emagic's FTP server: EXSP24 1.1 and EVP73 1.1.
And while searching for these URLs, I found a very interesting hint on how to create your own EXS instruments using EXSP24. That should tide me over until I buy the Logic 7 upgrade.
Einige Zeit nachdem Apple Emagic übernommen hatte, haben sie die ursprüngliche Website von Emagic dicht gemacht und die Produkte in ihr eigenes Portfolio integriert. Weil ich kürzlich Logic 6 neu installieren musste, musste ich über die von Apple eingerichteten Emagic Legacy Product Support-Seiten ein paar Updates herunterladen. Apple hat allerdings vergessen, zwei recht wichtige Updates auf den Downloadserver draufzunehmen: EXSP24 1.1 und EVP73 1.1.
Und auf der Suche nach diesen URLs habe ich einen sehr interessanten Tipp gefunden, wie man mit EXSP24 seine eigenen EXS-Samples erstellen kann. Das könnte ganz nützlich sein – bis ich mir das Logic 7-Update leiste.

Dorfdisko
Für die Premiere des Musical-Projekts von Chorios letzten Samstag musste für eine Szene schnell noch ein Loop her, der im Hintergrund etwas Disko-Atmosphäre herstellt. Nur: Wie klingt Disko-Musik? Ich habe dann einfach beschlossen, dass four-on-the-floor + Synthesizer fast jeden irgendwie an Disko erinnern sollte.
For the premiere of the Chorios musical project last Saturday, a loop was needed to create some disco atmosphere for one scene. Which made me ask myself: What does disco music actually sound like? I decided that four-on-the-floor plus some synthesizer lines should remind everyone of a disco.
Ich habe dann noch Apples MatrixReverb drüberlaufen lassen, um es so klingen zu lassen, als ob das Paar, das in der Szene miteinander redet, irgendwo an einem Tisch außerhalb der Tanzfläche sitzt.
I added some of Apple's nice matrix reverb to make it sound like the couple talking in the scene is sitting at a table outside the dance floor.
Der Loop alleine wirkt etwas billig, aber in der Show hat er überraschend gut funktioniert.

It sounds a bit cheesy if you listen to it by yourself, but it worked surprisingly well in the context of the show.

Bei McDonald's gibt's zur Zeit wieder eine asiatische Aktion, unter anderem mit dem Beef Lang-Zu.
Lan Zhu (懒猪) heißt übrigens „faules Schwein“.
In Germany, McDonald's currently offers Asian meal specials, amongst them the Beef Lang-Zu (beef grab-it) burger.
Lan Zhu (懒猪) means “lazy pig”, by the way.
